Resetting the Default Transponder on a standard Sky and Sky+ Receiver

Problem: On a standard Sky Receiver the Default Transponder will always default back to 11.778, which, for the majority of the time is a poor frequency in Spain. If you have had a power cut, the digibox refuses to respond to the remote ,or you see the messages “no satellite signal“ or “there is a technical fault with this channel” displayed on every channel, you need to carry out the following:

Unplug the sky box from the mains for 10 seconds.

Plug it back in (the light on the front should now be red. )

After approximatelty 2 minutes turn on sky box using the Sky Button on the Remote.

(This delay is to allow the box to carry out it´s software boot up sequence)

The light on the front should turn green.

If “no satellite signal” is still displayed, then carry out the following using your sky remote control:

Press “services button then 4 "

Press buttons "0 1 then select”

On the Installer Setup Menu carry out the following :

Press 2 for “default transponder”

In the top right hand column , the frequency will usually be “11778” change this to “12129”

by keying in the numbers on the remote.( if you make a mistake,press select and try again)

Highhlight “save new settings”,then press “select” to save the setting .

Press the backup button until “searching for listings” appears

There should be the time and date in the bottom right hand corner., if this sequence does not rectify the problem check the LNB, for foreign objects, see below. If you still have no joy you may need a call out from an engineer.

Checking the LNB for foreign bodies

If you are getting channels such as Sky News, True Movies and Movies for Men, but BBC1, ITV and others are breaking up, then this is usually an indication that you have an obstruction on the LNB, or a dish re-alignment problem.

Check that there is nothing obstructing the face of the lnb nearest the dish, or there are no insects or foreign objects up inside it. LOOK CLOSELY as the smallest spider can block the signal, if everything is clear, then you may need your dish re-aligned. This could be due to high winds, or if you have a concrete base in an area that is prone to flooding or damp, then the concrete pad can move slightly, and cause re-alignment issues.

Resetting the Default Transponder on a Sky+ HD Receiver

On a Sky+ HD Receiver the Default Transponder will retain the correct default transponder for Spain, even after a power cut, therefore there is no requirement to rest it, providing your engineer has set it up correctly in the first place.

Other Satellite Receivers

If your receiver locksup, or displays weak signal, or no satellite signal, try re-booting the box, and/or checking the LNB. If you have bought the receiver from us contact us for latest software updates, or to see if there are any known problems.
